Love this Book

I've check this book out from the library a couple of times now, I love it, and am dying to do some projects! It's called Easy Paint Makeovers, crackling, leafing, sponging, antiquing &more by Kass Wilson. I have big plans for my armoire (shown in the previous post). I am planning on doing antiquing to it, and I'm thinking the main color will be a linen color. I've been a bit to poor to get the proper tools and paint, so it's been on hold. Anyway this book shows some fabulous techniques and shows you all the tools and supplies you need. The hyper link takes you to the document in google books.

Decorating ~project #2

We all need an over sized letter showing off our Last inital! This one I found at Joann's. It's 7.99 but using that 40% off coupon is like gold.

I painted it solid black, only took 2 layers. Then I decided to stencil it w/ a Kiwi Green Color using stencil tape and a stipple brush.
Sorry this picture isn't very good. But to add extra detail, I used a yellow and the end of the brush's stick to add a simple dot of marigold yellow.

Then I added a layer of Liquitex Gloss to give it a finishing coat and a little extra sheen.
(Again sorry about the blur)

And it was as simple as that!

Americana Embroidery

I did this little embroidery years ago (I think it's been at least 4). And never finished it. I didn't want it as a pillow, b/c I don't like them as pillows so much, and I never put them out. So It sat at the bottom of a box with other unfinished projects. Then I found a frame at DI w/ the right dimensions. A fresh coat of paint, sanded down the edges.  Hooray! It's great to have an old project completed!

Decorating ~project #1

I've been working on various projects in decorating my home. Above is one, but I recently decided that 3 isn't enough, so I'm going to do six, and they're going to be smaller. But I still am very happy with what I have now.  They are vintage images of drawings of birds. You can find free images on the internet. There are websites/blogs that I follow that provide some of these. Check out the Graphics Fairy or the Vintage Moth for some fun things.

Images credit from Elle Decor, Country Home and unknown.

So to start I had a few frames from yard sales and DI (I always pick some up there, as long as the frame isn't cracked).
I paint them black with just crafting acrylic paint, and sanded the edges, and bits across the frame w/ different roughness/pressure to give a natural varying look. Then simply printed the images as the correct sizes. It was quick and fun.

Yard Sale

If you live in Salt Lake, I think this is the place to be Saturday morning! This is a yard sale Caitin Creer is doing of Caitlin Creer Interiors, she's a very talented designer that frequents Studio 5.
