Updates

Sorry for the lack of posting. I've been busy and continued to have a difficult pregnancy. There are many promotions right now with Stampin' UP, so check out the website to see all the details.

As of January 1, 2009, I will no longer be a demonstrator. Unfortunately, I cannot keep up this hobby with my situation. Not to mention I'll have two little ones in a couple of months. If you are in need of a new demonstrator, I'm refering you all to my upline, Kelly. Email me for her information.

I will keep this blog for a while hoping to post my cards still along with other crafts.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!

Doing Better, FINALLY!

I am finally feeling better, and over the morning sickness phase! I'm rejoicing. But the last few days I've been feeling better, I haven't done any stamping. I've been deep cleaning, and enjoying time with my son, and just getting some really R and R. I am determined to start this week! I'll finally get to play with my new stuff (that I've had for a month!). My main project to get completed now are our Halloween Invitations. So Once I complete those, I'll post them. I can't wait to start stamping again! So check back soon!

Cancellation

Oops, I forgot while scheduling my event/workshop for World Card Making Day, that Saturday, October 4th, is during *General Conference! So, I will be cancelling it. I'm not sure if I'm going to reschedule or not, I am still very sick, and haven't even had time to play with the new stamps I ordered two weeks ago or come up with the cards we would be making! Please keep looking for updates, and hopefully I will start feeling well again!

*General Conference is a twice yearly general meeting for the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as Mormons). The apostles, prophets and other leaders of the church prepare talks on many topics (ranging from service to avoiding pornography to faith). Over two days, Saturday and Sunday, there are five sessions where we can hear these talks. It is a wonderful and spiritual event. To learn more, please visit mormon.org

New Stuff!

I got my shipment yesterday (8/29). Perfect timing, I thought I was going to have to wait until Tuesday! I got the scallop edge punch, Heritage Holiday stamp set (pg 7 20.95$) and a couple of In Colors, Pink Pirouette, and Kiwi Kiss, and excited to use them! A small order, but I'm excited to start playing. Hopefully I can get organized on Monday. I've been using my kitchen as my stamping space, but my hubby moved out of his art studio to save some money, now he needs the kitchen dining space. I have to go back to my cramped table in our bedroom. But It's been covered with other items to get out of the way, such as old seasonal decor, my embroidery projects, and other crafting items I've been working on. So hopefully I'll have some fun Christmas card projects for you to do soon!

8.29.2008

More 1$ stamps

I love Stampin' Up! but I can't help resisting these 1$ stamps. I got the 3 horizontal ones at Michael's, and the other one at Joann's. They're made by the same company, but different designers. I bought the bobbin ribbon for 1$ too. The grosgrain orange color will be perfect to go with my Halloween cards and scrapbook pages.

In the meantime, I'm awaiting September 1st. That is the date the SU Demonstrators get to preorder from the Holiday Mini Catalog! I love some of the Halloween ones, there is a jumbo wheel that is spooky fence, and it coordinates with a whole set. The Christmas sets are fabulous, and if you love the Flower Fusion, they have felt Snowflakes too! It'll be great! If you've ordered from me before, you'll be getting a catalog in the mail soon! I'm also getting an SU shipment today. It's my first personal order from the new catalog. And what a perfect day for it to arrive! Today is my birthday! I don't think I'll be able to play today though. I have to go to work, and have a little party later, and I am still a bit sick. So, hopefully Monday when its cold and wet outside, I'll feel up for it!

Holiday Ideas

These are some cards i made last year. Most of them from not SU stamps, but you can apply the same idea to your stamps.
This stamp was a basic 1$ stamp I purchased at Michael's a few years ago. The paper was from a autumn stack I bought last fall. The colors I used were more Mustard card stock and Cool Caribbean (an old "In Color" but you could use Tempting Turquoise instead).
The was using 2 1$ stamps I purchased last holiday season. I used Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip. This idea can very easily be replicated.

This is paper I purchased at Robert's last year (it's still there, I don't remember who it's by). And some inexpensive embellishments. Then below the printed paper I pierced the paper with a straight line.
The saying is another 1$ stamp. The white is embossed on Bashful Blue.
This is using a retired Stampin' Up! set called Sparkling Season. The ornaments are made using Elmer's glitter glue, then I used long gold barrel type beads for the star. The background has the sparkling tree stampin around in Read Red. The tree is using Green Galore. In other versions of this card, the green paper had white polka dots.

I stamped them with Staz On ink so while in the kitchen, it won't bleed from splatters or other kitchen mishaps. Colors used are Real Red, Creamy Caramel (for the center of the apple) Certainly Celery, Only Orange, and Summer Sun.

MIA

Sorry I've been MIA, I've been ill and not up to doing anything, and more specifically, I'm pregnant with #2! I'm due in March so it's still early, but I have been sick all day everyday the last two weeks. Hopefully soon I'll be up to creating again! But in the meantime, I'm taking it easy!

Recipe Box

Even though we canceled the SU and PC class, I still wanted to make a recipe box, and ponder on different ideas for it for when we do have the class. I had a lot of fun making this. It didn't take long either. Once the Fall/Winter Catalog comes out, I will be able to look and see more possibilities. I bought the tin from a local scrapbooking store (Heart Felt Creations). The chipboard is painting in Lipstick red from Apple Barrel, and I stamped 2" strips of white paper white the cherries. I mounted everything with the SU Snail Adhesive.

Recipe:
Certainly Celery and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers
Tart and Tangy Stamp Set
Scallop Punch
Whisper White and Real Red CS
Ribbon, chipboard, tin

Lexicon of Love

Lexicon of Love is one of my favorite stamp sets. However it is retired. Sorry. Here are some more simple cards I have made recently. Enjoy.

This is using Pixie Pink and Certainly Celery. the grass is done with the Daisy wheel, which is retiring! The butterfly is with a Martha Stewart punch (SU doesn't have a butterfly--yet). I bent out the wings of the butterfly for a fun look, and the sentiment is mounted with pop up dots.

This is using Pumpkin Pie Whisper White and Old Olive CS, and Pumpkin Pie ink. The Flower Fusion felt flowers are so much fun, they are OO, PP and Rose Red. The Ribbon is PP. Another simple one, but I like it.

6.30.2008

From the Kitchen Of:

This is one of my newer stamp sets that I haven't had much time to play with. It is called 'From the Kitchen of'. We will use this when we have our Pampered Chef and Stampin UP! party, we still have to pick a date. I've had fun with it so far. I stamped the main image on white and mounted it on Certainly Celery. I colored the cherries with my stampin write markers of CC and Real Red.I stamped the words from the kitchen of on Real Red, and used the 1" circle punch, and mounted on the stamp. Then I used the black and white ribbon and simply stapled it on the card. I will make more of these too. I just am busy lately, but with all the family drama over on my side, Jeff's family is in town for the week before they move to Michigan, so I'm expecting a lot of time will be spent with them.

6.28.2008

So Many Scallops

So Many Scallops were available during the 2008 Sale-a-bration. So, unfortunately this set is not available, hopefully it made it to the 2008-2009 Fall/Winter Idea Book, but only time will tell. This set was made to coordinate with the scallop punch, so the stamped image fits perfectly!

The little flower was from the Big Bold Birthday set, but similar ones could be used from Little Flowers or Little Pieces. The Colors here are Pumpkin Pie and Pixie Pink. The ribbon was from Wal Mart a few years ago, but the colors worked perfectly. Simple and sweet.

Another very basic one. I was just playing with the set trying to get a taste of it. This is using Pixie Pink, Pumpkin Pie, and Certainly Celery. I inked the image with Stampin' Write Markers. The ribbon is pixie pink as well.
The colors here are Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue. I again inked the image with Stampin Write Markers. The ribbon is also chocolate chip. The scallop is mounted with pop up dots.
This is with Brilliant Blue and Bashful Blue. the image is stamped with Brilliant Blue, then I colored with the Bashful Blue. The paper was torn using the Tearing Edge, and the little stars were punched with a 1$ star punch. The scallop again was mounted with pop up dots.

Alot has been going on!

Sorry about the lack of posts, my grandfather passed away, and I've simply been too busy. I've missed stamping. In the last two weeks, I got 2 new stamps sets, a new ink pad, 2 new wheels, and 2 punches, and I finally got the chance to play with them yesterday!!! However, I took my supplies to my Cousin/Grandmother's house, and they are still there, and I didn't bring home my card and such, so I don't have pictures yet. So I will post those soon with more ideas and tips!

*****A reminder, the Mini Occasions Catalog is ending JUNE 30TH! You only have 3 days! If there is something you were just dying to get, this is your last chance! View the catalog here, and email me for your order! *****

The Décor Elements product line is another way to let you express your creativity-just on a larger canvas than a card or scrapbook page! This natural extension of our products is also right on trend, and our artwork converts from stamp sets to wall art images with ease.

While we are offering phrases and lettering, Stampin' Up! also has incredible artwork that lends itself to beautiful home décor images. Our artwork really stands out when you see it on a wall, a mirror, or a window. We believe that this different approach is just one differentiator between Stampin' Up! and the competition.

Another differentiator is that the Décor Elements images and techniques available also coordinate with our existing products. We brought you Two-Step Stampin', so why not two-step and three-step wall art that will really catch attention?

I have gotten a sneak peak at some of these, and they are soooooo cool! The brochure will be online July 1st! I have a sneak peak brochure I am emailing, if you don't get it today, then I don't have your email. Email me at katiejohale@gmail.com for a mini brochure! Check back to stampinup.com to see the complete line of fun stuff!

Birthday Stamp a Stack Cards

All these cards are using the Big Bold Birthday Set. I love this set, it is so versatile, and there are so many possibilities!

This is with Pixie Pink, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa. For the frosting I used the "Kissing with a Twist" technique. I stamped the main image in Close to Cocoa, then the dots in the set was stamped in Chocolate Chip, then I Stamped the spots to the stamp of the frosting many times, and twisted it a little bit, and that's what gave it the swirly look. The cupcakes were stamped on white paper, then I cut them out, and mounted them on white. The candle was also stamped in Pixie Pink, and I filled in the flame with a yellow marker. I used scallop scissors for edging on the white.

As you can see, this one is based on the previous Red and Yellow card. The colors are Lavender Lace, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, and Basic Black. Here I used the masking technique to create multiple balloons layering each other. For masking, you stamp the image
then cut it out exactly. You place it on top of the balloons you already stamped on your main image, then stamp the next balloon. It works best if you use a post it note. The tab is using one of the SU Tab punches, and the Corner Rounder Punch. With the Dazzling Diamonds and two way glue, I overlayed the dots on the CC. Then for the balloons I used a Glitter Glue. For surrounding the HB on the tab, I used the Dazzling Diamonds again. The HB is stamped on white paper, cut out then mounted on the tab.

This is with Cool Caribbean, Pumpkin Pie, and Basic Black. Cool Caribbean is a favorite color of mine, however it was an "In Color" from 2006-2007, so it's no longer available, but you can easily use Tempting Turquoise in it's place. Here we used the kissing technique again. The present was stamped in CC and the dots stamped in PP and then 'kissed' or lightly touched it to the present, careful not to twist, b/c it would then go brown. The edges of the image were rubbed in CC before mounted to the PP. The string is embroidery floss to match.

Birthday Cards!

These are the birthday cards I made while trying to decide what we should make for the Birthday Stamp a Stack.

This uses Big Bold Birthday, and It's your Birthday.
The colors used are Summer Sun, Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White. The tab is used a Tab Punch, and a corner rounder punch was used too. The ribbon is the only thing that is not SU.

Again this is using Big Bold Birthday and It's Your Birthday, and the background is using the Sprinkles set. This is with Lavender Lace, Lovely Lilac and Certainly Celery. The glitter is using the Two Way Glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. The string is Embroidery Floss.

Unfrogettable

This is with the 'Unfrogettable' set. I love it! I don't own it, my cousin Liz and I have gotten together and overtaken my kitchen. We've been pretty productive and sharing our creative juices. However, I made these at 10 last night while watching Roman Holiday. I had fun. I watercolored the frogs using Glorious Green. The grass on the 1st one was made with Gable Green, while the 3rd was using Glorious Green again. For the grass, it is from the stamp set "All the Best."

Enjoying the Mums

Quick and cute

I stamped a bunch of these flowers when I first got the set, and watercolored a whole different arrays of colors. So I had these ready to go. I then mounted them on matching cardstock, and added the yellow brads for the extra color.

Finally, another card

Again, I have not had much time to make cards with me being ill, and the last few days, Ash has had a fever. I started this card a while ago, and finally put it together today. It is using Cool Caribbean, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White cardstock. The ink is Rose Red, and Chocolate Chip. The ribbon is a pack of coordinated ribbon from American Crafts. The punch is the spiral punch! I love using it! What a fun look of being torn from a binder. The stamps are Make it Count (hostess stamp set) and Looks Like Spring.

Another Tart and Tangy Card

I made this one tonight while waiting for the Jazz Game to start. It's basic, but I love it! It's all summery! It uses the Tart and Tangy set, Enjoy Every Moment, and for the background, Sprinkles. The Inks are Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, and Certainly Celery.

Finally some time

I had some time last night to make a card! And that was only because I couldn't sleep! I had fun though. I made many cards, but I was duplicating ones I already made, so this was the one I made that was new. This is using the Tart and Tangy set from the Occasions Mini Catalog, and the Hot to Dot Stampin' Around Wheel®, and the thanks is from hostess set Make it Count. The colors are Certainly Celery and Ruby Red. The strawberry is stamped in both the CC and RR, then cut out and layered. With the dotted background, I took my CC marker and filled in the o's. The torn edge is done with the Tearing Edge®.

Back to the Beginning!

Taking a look back at the beginning of my card making! I started my sophomore year in HS, so now 10 years ago. This was a card I found in a pile of old scrapbooking stuff. It was made on green card stock, printed paper, and a vintage style Winnie The Pooh sticker. Fun to look back, but also seeing that this is a basic but very workable layout. You can do this with a stamped image as the main idea, or words, stamped as the printed paper, or printed paper . . . . so many possibilities from an old idea.

Bloomin' with Love

Another new stamp set. This is in the Spring/Summer 2008 catalog. It is called Bloomin' with Love. I had fun with this, very springy and also using my new scallop punch!

All the stamps used are from the Bloomin' with Love set, the paper is Orchid Opulence, Whisper White and Certainly Celery, the ink used is Close to Cocoa, Orchid Opulence, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal. This was again watercoloring, but this set could easily be done with markers.

Bloomin' Beautiful

This is one of my new set, Bloomin' Beautiful from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I had a lot of fun watercoloring these. The hydrangeas were a little time consuming, but worth it!

1. Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful
Paper: More Mustard, Basic Black, Whisper White card stock
Ink: Staz On Black, Certainly Celery, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie

2. Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, background script
P:Lavender Lace, Whisper White, Old Olive

My first Workshop

*I had so much fun for my first workshop! I had a couple groups of people that I demo'ed for. These are the items we made, a bookmark and a card. We had a door prize, the grand prize went to Kim Lowder. We had some nice snacks including some hummus I made.

The bookmark is using the Friendship Blooms set (Sale-a-bration 2008), the phrase is from Enjoy Every Moment. The colors are Cool Caribbean, and Certainly Celery and Whisper White (cardstock).
The card is using several sets, Define Your Life, Seeing Spots, Be Happy, and Little Flowers. The colors are Pixie Pink, Certainly Celery and Summer Sun. The ribbon is not SU.
